HeartBeat Youth Ministry ‘Stronger Together’ Sentosa Outing

The holidays are here!

Before everyone goes on to their respective plans for the season, our HeartBeat Youth Ministry organised a Sentosa Outing themed ‘Stronger Together’. The youth were split into groups and had some friendly competition with each other as they played some games (no dunking of participants into the water).

Check out the photos:

Special thanks to the Youth Ministry Leaders for planning the activities. Shout out also to Sis Jessica for sponsoring some finger food!

A Memorable Mother’s Day Celebration

TPC-Rev-Daniel-Ong

Guest speaker, Rev Daniel Ong, sharing the Word

A lovely Mother’s Day service on May 8, 2022, to bless the mothers.

That morning the ambience inside the worship hall was different from usual. Why? Little boys and girls were busy distributing cute little gifts to the mothers who were seated. For the first time after two years, the elderly residents from AWWA (Asian Women’s Welfare Association) Home also joined us on this special Sunday service. It was Mother’s Day! A short video clip named “A Mother’s Prayer” was featured to commemorate this occasion. It was a very touching video clip about a mother’s wish for her child to grow happily and healthily. All the mothers in our midst also went up to be prayed for.

The guest speaker was Rev Daniel Ong from International Christian Centre in Seattle, together with his wife, Ps Connie Seaward, the author of the book, ‘Margaret in Singapore’.

Rev Ong’s sermon topic was ‘Follow God Wholeheartedly’. He began with Mark 12:30 and Numbers 14:24, and elaborated by preaching about a man that followed God wholeheartedly (Joshua 14:8-9, Luke 9:23 and 1 Corinthians 15:31). He went on to talk about what it means to follow God wholeheartedly. There were five points in his sermon outline 1) Without question or total obedience; 2) Sincere heart or without any other motives; 3) Trust in the Lord; 4) Fix your eyes on Jesus and 5) Never give up!!

The takeaways from the sermon for me is to learn to give everything to God and die to yourself. I should sacrifice anything for the will of God. Many a time, I tend to look at my own desires and see how I can satisfy it, but here we have to die to self and forgo the selfish desires of our own and do God’s will. Indeed, it is very challenging to accomplish that. However, we do it with the help of the Holy Spirit. Indeed, it is and it will be the Holy Spirit who helps us to follow God wholeheartedly. He will help us to be willing to give up for Jesus. As I follow God wholeheartedly, I need to have total trust in the Lord. Testing and trials will come but they are there in order for me to grow. I need to fix my eyes on Jesus as I continue to learn to follow Him wholeheartedly.

After service, Ps Connie Seaward also took the opportunity to autograph for her books from those who have purchased them. What a blessed Mother’s Day!

HeartBeat Youth Ministry presents Youth Chalet on 3rd to 4th September 2022

church chalet outing

Humans are social and emotional creatures. The pandemic has shown us the importance of meeting up physically, bonding with one another and enjoying the presence of Christ as one body. As the Bible says in Matthew 18:19–20, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

Hence, the HeartBeat Youth Ministry is proud to present the Youth Chalet 2022. Yes, in case you’re wondering, IT IS an old school chalet gathering where we have fun chatting, BBQ-ing and also staying up late (to pray and to bond). It’s also highly subsidised and a no frills outing. We don’t expect you to do anything complex or draining. Except maybe the age old problem of starting a fire or just avoid turning the chicken wings to black carbon bits.

Full Logistics and Details:

  • Date: 3 Sep – 4 Sep 2022
  • Location: Changi CSC Chalet (3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 BBQ pit and quite a bit of fun youths)
  • Time: TBC, we will inform everyone directly but as with all Chalet outings, it’s likely to be in the afternoon of 3 Sep when we takeover the place.
  • Food: There will be a BBQ dinner provided 3 Sep (Saturday evening)
  • Cost: $20/pax* (youth) and $25/parents (adult)
  • Parents: We understand that some parents might be sending your child to the chalet and since you’ve already travelled all the way to Changi, we would like to extend the invite to these parents of youths for the BBQ dinner. The parents will have a dining area to themselves and can enjoy the BBQ food prepared.
  • Important hygiene note: We will make our way to Church together on Sunday morning so do bring a change of clothes and some toiletries (you know the drill).

* Bring a friend for free if conditions are met (yes, please invite your friends for free food and fun). Price remains the same whether you stay over or not. See the picture above.

To sign up:

  • Church members to sign up via sign up list at church or contact Sis Abigail or Bro Ivan. You can also sign up for your friends.
  • For public, drop us a message or DM us on Instagram @thepeopleschurchsg.

Congratulations to our baptism candidates! We pray that you will grow in the Lord and grow stronger in the faith.

Such a joy to be able to meet physically again! Appreciate all the Brothers and Sisters in Christ that turned up to support.
