HeartBeat Youth Ministry ‘Stronger Together’ Sentosa Outing

The holidays are here!

Before everyone goes on to their respective plans for the season, our HeartBeat Youth Ministry organised a Sentosa Outing themed ‘Stronger Together’. The youth were split into groups and had some friendly competition with each other as they played some games (no dunking of participants into the water).

Special thanks to the Youth Ministry Leaders for planning the activities. Shout out also to Sis Jessica for sponsoring some finger food!

HeartBeat Youth Ministry presents Youth Chalet on 3rd to 4th September 2022

church chalet outing

Humans are social and emotional creatures. The pandemic has shown us the importance of meeting up physically, bonding with one another and enjoying the presence of Christ as one body. As the Bible says in Matthew 18:19–20, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

Hence, the HeartBeat Youth Ministry is proud to present the Youth Chalet 2022. Yes, in case you’re wondering, IT IS an old school chalet gathering where we have fun chatting, BBQ-ing and also staying up late (to pray and to bond). It’s also highly subsidised and a no frills outing. We don’t expect you to do anything complex or draining. Except maybe the age old problem of starting a fire or just avoid turning the chicken wings to black carbon bits.

Full Logistics and Details:

  • Date: 3 Sep – 4 Sep 2022
  • Location: Changi CSC Chalet (3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 BBQ pit and quite a bit of fun youths)
  • Time: TBC, we will inform everyone directly but as with all Chalet outings, it’s likely to be in the afternoon of 3 Sep when we takeover the place.
  • Food: There will be a BBQ dinner provided 3 Sep (Saturday evening)
  • Cost: $20/pax* (youth) and $25/parents (adult)
  • Parents: We understand that some parents might be sending your child to the chalet and since you’ve already travelled all the way to Changi, we would like to extend the invite to these parents of youths for the BBQ dinner. The parents will have a dining area to themselves and can enjoy the BBQ food prepared.
  • Important hygiene note: We will make our way to Church together on Sunday morning so do bring a change of clothes and some toiletries (you know the drill).

* Bring a friend for free if conditions are met (yes, please invite your friends for free food and fun). Price remains the same whether you stay over or not. See the picture above.

To sign up:

  • Church members to sign up via sign up list at church or contact Sis Abigail or Bro Ivan. You can also sign up for your friends.
  • For public, drop us a message or DM us on Instagram @thepeopleschurchsg.

[Sneak Peak Preview] Dance Performance by The People’s Church Singapore HeartBeat Youth Ministry

This sneak peak preview video tells you why members of The People’s Church HeartBeat Youth Ministry came together for the dance performance. It may seem like a simple dance (with sleek moves) but within the dance contains a meaningful message and testimony based on a true story.

For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.” – 1 Corinthians 12:13-18 (KJV)

The dance will take place on 4th August 2018 during the church’s 10th Anniversary Celebrations and is based on ‘The Hurt & The Healer’ by MercyMe. Click here for more information.

TPC Infinity Challenge 2018.

What do Singaporean youths do during the holidays? Well, they have fun of course!

The HeartBeat youth ministry of The People’s Church had a day of team building games at Labrador Park to welcome the school holidays. Called the Infinity Challenge, the games involved the youths having to compete in mini telematches to acquire materials. The materials will then be used as resources in a final showdown as teams tried to destroy each others bases and score points. The games were inspired by some characters in Marvel’s Infinity Wars.

The games concluded about lunch time and the event finished off with a simple meal of MacDonalds!

The People’s Church celebrates Christmas with first-ever theatrical production, The Gift

The Gift Wei Xin and D

On Christmas Eve, 24 Dec 2016, we gathered in unison, holding hands and praying just once more, for the word of God to be seeded into the hearts of those who would be attending the church’s first theatrical production. Titled, “The Gift”, the story revolves around two neighbouring families of different faith depicting issues faced by the youths of today and the day-to-day struggles of the family unit. The Gift is inspired by the true story of our Senior Pastor, Rev. Patrick Cheong, whom God graciously redeemed after a failed suicide attempt.

During the 40-minute performance, conversations between cast members were kept colloquial and in typical Singlish, meant to engage the diverse age-groups present in the audience. While the audience displayed their emotions through the different scenes, they however did not know the difficulty cast members faced in acting out the final two tear-jerking scenes. For months – during rehearsals, the portrayal of melancholy and grief was middling and the actors could hardly evoke emotions out of anyone. Not so for the actual performance. Members in the audience could be seen shedding tears and dabbing away at their eyes. Truly it is not by our might, but through the work of the Holy Spirit tugging at heart-strings.

Melody, recounted her experience as one of the main actors, “I knew God’s Presence was so strong. It felt so different because I was able to get into character. He was the One who gave me the strength and courage to act out my role.”Nigel, another important cast, noted that God was “working to fill in the gaps”. He said: “It wasn’t a tale of the best performance, script or actors. The imperfection of the preparation reflected the truth — nobody is perfect except God.

The Gift isn’t your typical Christmas story – the depiction of the nativity scene and Christ’s birth. It’s message rather is that Christ is God’s greatest gift bestowed upon us, and His gift of life has given all an eternal hope and salvation – if we choose to believe.

Is Christmas a pagan festival where santa claus and his elves march out in celebration, and to “judge” people by their deeds? Is Christmas a season of feasting, shopping and revelry? Or, is Christmas a money-spinning machine? Rather, let Christmas be a poignant reminder of the purpose of the birth of Christ – that the Son of God took on human flesh, paid a price no one could afford and conquered death, so that all may have the gift of eternal life.
